The Tyre coast natural reserve (TCNR) is one of the natural reserves located in the south of Lebanon. It covers an area of about 3.8 km² with a marine zone of 113 km². It is characterized by its biodiverse marine and coastal ecosystems. It is also an important nesting site for migrating birds and endangered sea turtles. Fishers use part of the marine zone for fishing and other related activities. Many of these activities are performed by the reserve alongside the fishers like the removal of invasive plant species, cleaning the beach and sea, and sea turtle monitoring. In addition to that, a sea turtle rescue center was established to host marine turtles that require care. The turtles are then released back to their natural environment when they become healthy. Note that the fishers now report most cases of turtles suffering from problems, after raising awareness and training them on the best practice of how to preserve the injured turtles. The Fish Med Net project will include the TCNR through module #1 public services. Therefore, several meetings were conducted with those in charge of the reserve
